Spotify Updates

Love the Spotify iOS apps.  Smooth as butter on my iPad Mini.  I can tether my WiFi only iPad via Bluetooth to my iPhone to maintain cellular connection integrity (for validating the local files stored on it).  I can also run Spotify directly on my iPhone, but the solution outlined above gives me access to the bigger real estate offed by the iPad Mini App.

You’ll need to go Spotify Pro to utilize the mobile capabilities, but if you’re not locked into the free version of it on your desktop already, you don’t know what you’re missing.

Big Surprise

I have an older model Video iPod with a sixty gig hard drive.  The unit still works, but the display has gone belly up.  There are thirty odd gigabyte of songs locked away on that device. I noticed an option to sync my iPod to my Spotify a couple weeks ago, so I dug out my iPod and ran it through the Spotify sync.  Voila, I’ve now got all the music that was locked in that iPod added to a local files list on Spotify!  The only catch was that my previously purchased iTunes were “locked”.  The solution was involved loading up iTunes.

I hadn’t fired iTunes up for so long I was unaware that they now let you re-download all your previous music purchases.   In a few minutes that process was completed, and now I’m back in possession of all my orphaned music.

Sunday Morning Services

With apologies to my dear friend @Jerry_dewitt, Author of ‘Hope After Faith‘.  It’s not his fault that most of America (and half of atheism) is heavily creeped out by his innate southern Pentecostal mannerisms and is still searching for the ultimate expression of an evangelical free atheist communal experience.  I’ll be writing my own companion addition to Jerry’s book. Working title: Fun After Faith

Our Mission

The creative geniuses in my Advanced English Expressions Department, along with a big assist from The Tim Channel’s Ecumenical Plattitudes Division, teamed up to solve one of the world’s most perplexing questions:

Why is it I can put on one sock while holding the other sock in my hand, and then suddenly decide to go on a search for my “missing” sock?

Long frustrated by that unsolvable mystery, they were reassigned to the less Tim-critical mission of forming a new religiously unaffiliated congregation to pacify world religious angst.

If the rest of the world is digging on Spotify even half as much as me, it portends great things for their future. I am busy stress testing the Spotify service. I’ve got their desktop program installed on my MacBook Air and their iOS portable app on my iPhone and iTouch. Right now, I am chewing through their free trial period faster than a fat kid at a cake buffet, and therefore may lose some of the functionality (offline playing?) when it expires.

As it stands right now, I would pawn whatever is left of my left nut to get the funds to keep the Spotify premium service going (assuming I can wrestle it out of the confines of my wife’s purse, where it currently resides).
