Best of Dodge

This is the third in an ongoing series of posts I’m doing as we approach the Christmas holiday.  I am highlighting businesses in the Fort Dodge area that I have visited and that I feel deserve wider recognition for outstanding service and merchandizing.  Parts one and two are already posted, but to be sure, don’t miss out of this merchant either, if you’re looking for good service and aren’t mad at your money!  Today’s episode highlights another Crossroads Mall store, The Other Store, specializing in Iowa team fan merchandize.  The manager (Tiffinie) made sure to remind me that they carry nearly every high school mascot for the entire state of Iowa!  Drive carefully from wherever you are located in Iowa, but get down to the Crossroads Mall as soon as you can and check out the vast assortment of fan merchadise as well as all manner of trinkets and what’s its.  Something for everyone!

Stuff I Learnt – Duck Dynasty

“Stuff I Learnt” is a new series premiering today.  It will focus on an eclectic mix of things I have learned since leaving Mississippi five odd years ago.

Hates Ducks and Dudes Who Like Dick

Duck Dynasty Misses The MarkGuy with the longest beard has the smallest penis

The A&E cable show known as Duck Dynasty had about eight million viewers at the time one of the errant fugly duckers went into full out Jeebus-lovin’ homo-hater mode in a GQ magazine interview.

After that article went viral, it was “Heathens vrs. Holy Men” time (aka America vrs Fox News) all over the TV and internet. The Holy Men assured us that the show would be more popular than ever. I clearly remember the harmonic bleating of the usual cast of knuckle dragging religionists fully agreeing with the Fox News analysis. We were advised by those motley fools that the homosexuals would be better served trying to un-homosexualize themselves than taking on a manly dude who seeks gratification slaughtering ducks. Psychiatric sessions were suggested (for gays, but not compulsive duck murderers), no offense intended…of course.

Tim’s Tiny Home Project Notes

tiny home on the lake

I’ve been bitten by the tiny Euro lifestyle here in Germany.  Having the first hand view of German’s commitment to environmental protection while maintaining industrial level Chinese production capacity is a once in a lifetime experience. If you’re buying a German produced good today there’s a huge likelihood that a significant part of the energy required to build it came from the wind or the sun!

I’ve definitely caught the ‘umwelt’ bug, which coincidentally overlaps with my tree hugging liberal proclivities.   Don’t even get me started on the ‘latte drinking’ part of the liberal equation!  There’s too many of my social media posts out there for me to deny that, but I pity the fool who thinks they’ll ever find a picture of me (or my shadow) within sight of a Volvo, or a soccer match.   I may be a caricature but I’m not a stereotype!
