2014 in Review

The WordPress “Stat-bot” prepared a 2014 annual report for my blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 30,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 11 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Will Cheney Rat Out Bush?

Now that The New York Times has finally come out for a full on war crimes trial, naming Cheney et.al (but not Bush?) it’s only a matter of time before justice is served. Looks like “enhanced interrogation” is about to get a new definition. The old one.  It’s a curious omission not to have included The Decider into the mix though.  Very curious indeed.  I can just see Cheney trying to cop a plea by giving up Bush as the “mastermind” behind the whole ordeal!  Maybe it’s just my fantasy.

Enjoy.

On the Event of His Death

I joined the Army two days after the 9/11 attacks. I joined the Army because our country had been attacked. I wanted to strike back at those who had killed some 3,000 of my fellow citizens. I did not join the Army to go to Iraq, a country that had no part in the September 2001 attacks and did not pose a threat to its neighbors, much less to the United States. I did not join the Army to “liberate” Iraqis or to shut down mythical weapons-of-mass-destruction facilities or to implant what you cynically called “democracy” in Baghdad and the Middle East. I did not join the Army to rebuild Iraq, which at the time you told us could be paid for by Iraq’s oil revenues.

There is no statute of limitations on war crimes.

About That Mission

Enhanced Recriminations

Here is the latest in my #timremix series. H/T to Eddie Grant for the lyrical inspiration.
Copy, share or forward to every crazy uncle who forwards you a Benghazi email or mentions Obama as the cause for Ebola. Gently remind them that we will never be able to convict Obama for injecting Ebola into Texas without a proper court of justice!.  Do it for the sake of our children. There’s always a possibility that they might yet get to live in the kind of free society most of us grew up in.  Let’s all pitch in and help “enhance” their chances.

We Don’t Torture, We Enhance

Conspiracy to Commit War Crimes

The battle wasn’t over when the “Mission was Accomplished”. There is still a hugely important mission that needs to be completed. Support the troops, and the rule of law they thought they were fighting for. Purge the war prostitutes and fill those seats with citizens who represent law and order as it was constitutionally enshrined. #finishthemission

Listicles

The trend to put everything in a click-bait listicle has led to the invention of the word itself.

Would it be too much to ask for a listicle of the doctors who scientifically decided exactly how hard we could physically abuse prisoners-of-war?

Did they strap an iPhone onto the prisoners and capture the data on a “health and fitness” app as they bounced them off the walls?

I dunno, but it seems kinda ‘war crime’ish” to me and I want to avoid those doctors who engaged in this type of medicine in any case.  Who has the list? Is it left for me to come up with a listicle of listicles that have been overlooked for far too long?

Enjoy.
